From a single groundwater practice to a national environmental firm
From modest beginnings as a small, single-office groundwater contamination investigation practice, Paul Roux set a goal: to build a larger consulting firm providing a much broader array of services and covering a wider geography.
The Founding Decade

Founded by Paul Roux in 1981
A groundwater contamination investigation practice, built on a simple hiring bar.
The founding hiring standard, still in use today: smart, hardworking, talented, and nice.

Remediation at scale, and greener
Oil terminals, refineries, insurance support, and the brownfields practice that would become a signature.

A broader array of services, a wider geography
Landmark assignments at home and abroad, from Barclays Center in Brooklyn to in situ remediation overseas.

Coast to Coast
2010s
West Coast expansion
Roux goes truly national, opening California offices and serving clients coast to coast.
- 2011Roux California launches with three principals; Long Beach, Burbank, and Oakland offices established
- 2013Tronox v. Anadarko: expert cost evaluation yields a $5.1 billion award, the largest environmental bankruptcy award to date
- 2016Economic & Complex Analytics (ECA) team formalized

2020s
New leadership, new practices
A leadership transition, an ESG practice, a merger, and two newly formalized service lines.
- 2020Sin Senh, with the firm since 1999, becomes President and CEO
- 2021Environmental, Social & Governance practice launches
